Sub-Zero Repair Pro Los Angeles · CA

About

An independent refrigeration service, kept deliberately small

Sub-Zero Repair Pro Los Angeles works on one family of equipment — built-in Sub-Zero refrigeration — across eight places on a single Los Angeles route. Not a general appliance shop, and not a dispatcher selling your address on to whoever is free this afternoon.

Independent, and working on Sub-Zero refrigeration in Los Angeles since 2001.

Most of what comes in is old. Cabinets from before the control panel learned to show a number, cabinets that show one and are not believed, and cabinets whose owner has been told the part is no longer made. That is the work this site keeps a reference section for: read the display, date the machine off its rating plate, and then the repair-or-replace question has an answer instead of an opinion.

Method

How a visit runs, in order

One flat charge of $89 covers the trip out and the full diagnosis, and it comes straight off the repair the moment you approve the work.

What the repair itself comes to is a range, set out band by band on every repair page — never one number before anybody has looked at the unit.

  1. 01

    Describe it on the phone

Model and serial off the rating plate, plus what the machine is actually doing — temperatures, noises, anything lit on the panel, whether one side still holds. That narrows the fault before anyone sets off, and it decides which parts ride along on the van.

  2. 02

    Measured, not eyeballed

Compartment temperatures logged against the set points with a probe rather than read off the display, airflow traced, defrost circuit and controls tested. The sealed system goes under gauges when — and only when — the readings point there.

  3. 03

    A number before a spanner

One figure for parts and labour, with the fault named and what follows if it is left alone. Nothing is ordered or replaced before you agree to it. On an ageing cabinet that sometimes means being told the arithmetic has stopped working, which is a conclusion this site publishes rather than avoids.

  4. 04

    Run back down and shown

The machine is run back down and the numbers are put in front of you before the van moves. A repair nobody has verified with the owner watching is not a finished repair.

Why one route and not a county

The sector is eight places, from Ventura Boulevard over the hill down to the Westside flats. A firm that claims the whole basin spends its day on the 405 and reaches the second call with an hour of light left; holding one route puts the hours into machines instead of freeways.

It also keeps the failures familiar. Over the hill the heat takes condensers and their fans out in clusters every summer. A few miles off the water the marine layer works instead on seals, hinges and anything aluminium in the airflow path. On the mid-city arc the machine is shut into joinery with barely a finger of clearance. Same brand, three different reasons a cabinet gives up.

What we do not do

  • No ovens, ranges, cooktops or dishwashers. Cooking equipment is a different trade and a different set of parts.
  • No contact forms and no email queue — the phone is answered 24/7, and the booking page holds a real slot.
  • No diagnosis over the phone that gets billed as a repair. The visit is $89, and it is credited against the work.
  • No affiliation with the manufacturer. This is an independent service and the footer says so on every page.
