EC 07 records that the sensor measuring the air in the freezer went open or shorted for ten seconds or more, or returned temperatures the control could not credit.
- What the control is watching
- Freezer compartment air — the figure printed on the freezer side of the panel, and the measurement the control judges that compartment by.
- What makes it register
- Loss of circuit, a short across it, or readings that contradict one another. None of the three is tolerated for long.
- Can you keep using it
- A freezer carries its contents further than a refrigerator does, so there is a little more room here. The code will not clear itself, and the compartment is now unsupervised.
Age shows in the wiring long before it shows in the parts. A freezer sensor spends its working life in a compartment that frosts, thaws and drips as often as the control decides it must, and what suffers is the joint — a plug low in the liner, a splice behind the rear panel, where a loom passes through foam.
What that produces is a code that is not always present when somebody comes to look. The reading drops out during a defrost, returns a minute later, and the control has already recorded it.
The order of work is the same either way. Continuity along the run first, resistance at the sensor second, a new part only where the figure falls outside what Sub-Zero publishes. The part is inexpensive; establishing that it was not the part is what the visit buys.
