EC 20 is two faults filed as one entry: the freezer coil never reached defrost temperature, and the control saw no voltage return down the feedback wire when the cycle began.

- The freezer defrost cycle from both ends — the temperature the coil reaches, and the electrical confirmation that the heater circuit went live at all.
- What makes it register
- A cycle that starts, produces no warm-up and sends back no confirmation, so the control is left with a cold coil and a silent circuit.
- Can you keep using it
- Briefly. Frost keeps building on the coil until air stops moving through it, and the compartment follows the coil down. Days rather than weeks.
Two readings arrive together here, and the pairing is the useful part. A defrost that merely runs cool could be pointing in several directions; a defrost that runs cool and also fails to announce itself narrows the search to the heater circuit rather than to the sensor watching it.
That is why the documented sequence starts with a manual defrost from a properly cold coil and a continuity check along the feedback wire, then measures the element, then looks at the terminator. The board comes last on the list, not first.
Left alone the compartment does not give up suddenly. It loses ground a degree at a time as the coil closes over, which is why the freezer feels merely disappointing for a fortnight before anybody reads the panel.
